Life is a journey, here’s mine.
At 18 I was in locked up in jail for assault.
At 19 I dropped out of college and enlisted in the Marine Corps.
By 23 I had spent 3.5 years deployed overseas, leading a fireteam of Marines.
At 24 I had no job, was living off unemployment, and making bad choices.
At 25 I married my beautiful wife and life was okay for a while. Until it wasn’t.
At 29 I tried to commit suicide. I spent the end of December including Christmas in a psychiatric facility.
At 30 I overdosed and spent a week in the hospital in critical condition.
By 31 I am going to graduate college with my BS in organizational leadership.
By 31 I will have published my first poetry book.
I don’t know why I am here
But here I am.
